Mrs. Parker grew up as a military child (daughter of a Marine), and lived in many different places including Kansas, California, Virginia, and Japan. After graduating from high school (in Northern Virginia, which she considers her home), she went on to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (GO TAR HEELS!) and received a bachelor's degree in Journalism (with a certificate in Business Journalism) with a concentration in History.

Mrs. Parker spent some time writing business news for The Tennessean in Nashville, Tennessee and for Reuters in New York City. Although she grew up longing to be a reporter, she fell in love with teaching when she studied abroad in South Africa at the University of Cape Town and worked at an independent school called Christel House during her senior year of college. Before coming to join the staff at Beaufort Academy, Mrs. Parker taught middle school language arts in Charlotte, North Carolina through the Teach For America program. She loves teaching and really wants to prepare students for the rigor of high school and college work!
